Job Description :
The process engineering lead is a critical role in major project team to provide technical support for capital projects to ensure safety, operational and technical integrity in all process aspects of the chemical process from the engineering phase through to plant construction and commissioning.
The jobholder will work alongside peers within a diverse Engineering team, cooperate with process& technology team and operation team. He/she will report to the Engineering Manager.
The jobholder will supervise DIs’ process design and progress and ensure the design quality of deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Participation in HAZIDs, HAZOP, risk reviews and technical reviews
- Supervising process design activities of engineering contractors as the work scope, supporting equipment specifications and design, optimizing plant layout for safety and efficiency, and other scopes of works as required to support capital projects.
- Technical involvement with process equipment (pumps, pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, fire equipment, etc) used in the chemical processing industry.
- Support the project as Process Lead during all phases of a capital project - scope development, FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices for process plant design.
- Cooperating and coordinating the activities with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation& control) to provide process solutions
- Ensure proper process design, vessel design, and code compliance by reviewing design documentation.
- Technical support of project permitting including EIA, SIA, etc.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and develop solutions of safety, operation or maintenance concerns.
Accountabilities
- Zero injuries and incidents on assigned projects.
- Ensuring applicable codes, standards, and best practices for process plant design.
- Design activities accomplishment within the project schedule and budget.
- Continuous improvement in procedures, tools, standards, and team performance.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master of Chemical Engineering
- 10+ years of Chemical Engineering in chemical or petrochemical processing plants
- Significant demonstrated experience performing process design on large CAPEX projects.
- Strong technical skills in process calculation, simulation, and good engineering contractor supervision skills
- Deep understanding of process equipment design and process safety concept
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
- Growth mindset and willing to learn new things and technologies.
