• A minimum of six m onths of experience supporting the delivery of anesthesia.

Duties:

The anesthesia technician is an essential team member within the department of anesthesia. Under the direction of the anesthesia workroom supervisor the anesthesia technician performs specialized tasks and procedures in support of the staff anesthesiologists, resident physicians, staff nurse anesthetists and student nurse anesthetists. These procedures include, but are not limited to, the initiation of clinical, technical, janitorial and logistic support in all anesthetizing locations. The duties and responsibilities of the anesthesia technician fall into five main areas; care and maintenance, troubleshooting and instruction in the proper usage of anesthesia equipment in all anesthetizing locations, preparation of all anesthetizing locations (main OR, ASC, PACU, Urology, Labor and Delivery) and satellite anesthetizing locations, utilizing daily assignment s in direct patient care activities, continuous demonstration of team oriented values and inventory control.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Three years of health care experience involving direct patient care including some use and maintenance of specialized medical equipment with at least one year of the prior experience at the level of a Clinical Technician II or equivalent, or a combination of related education and experience.
