Duties:
• Works consistently using sound judgment to set priorities. Is consistently aware of the importance in taking initiative in all areas of job responsibilities.
• Perform detailed terminal cleaning procedure of anesthesia carts and machines.
• Processes and sterilizes anesthesia accessories.
• Ensures that all supplies are adequately and properly stocked in the supply carts and anesthesia machines.
• Provides assistance to the Anesthesiologists/Nurse Anesthetists as needed.
• Responsible for learning and understanding the basics of all equipment used by the Anesthesia dept.
• Removes defective equipment from use, tag properly, and inform supervisor and/or biomedical employee.
• Understand the concept of aseptic technique.
• Assist with CPR and other duties as directed by the supervisor and/or Anesthesiologists/Nurse Anesthetists.
• Assist with patient position (prone, lateral, supine) if needed and assure adequate coverage of pressure points for the enhancement of safety to the patient during surgery.
• Responsible to work with the general public, nurses, staff and students in a sometimes stressful environment.
• Responsible for problem solving and working with a multitude of personalities with ability to promote verbal and written communication skills.
• Assumes responsibility for self development by attending staff meetings, in-services, and through independent study.
• Utilize effective listening and questioning techniques.
• Assist with inventory control.
• Understand the process of ordering supplies from general stores and initiate requisition for other items. Understand the process for ordering medications from pharmacy.
• Identifies operational problems and participates in their resolution.
• Promote a harmonious working environment.
• Initiates appropriate telephone usage for messages to appropriate person and forwards information as required. Handles telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy and respect for patient confidentiality.
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
One year of health care experience involving direct patient care.
