The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Clinician, Senior Clinician, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Anesthesia. This full-time clinical or tenure-track faculty position will reside in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and provide services within the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC).

At the rank of Clinici! an or Senior Clinician, this position will consist of 75% effo! rt dedicated to professional practice and clinical instruction in the LVMC for both small and large animal anesthesia.

A position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank will consist of 50% effort dedicated to the professional practice and clinical instruction in the LVMC for both small and large animal anesthesia.

The remaining effort at any rank will be distributed among didactic teaching and the development of a creative program of scholarship, laboratory teaching, academic service, and outreach activities as negotiated.

The successful candidate will be joining a section that includes three faculty anesthesiologists and five veterinary technicians. The LVMC provides specialized care and comprehensive medical and surgical services for companion and large animals throughout Iowa and surrounding states. Our clinicians, residents and interns, technicians, staff, and senior veterinary students work in teams to provide 24-hour, state-o! f-the-art care to animal patients. This position will have shared after hours emergency duty with the anesthesia section staff.

Required Qualifications
DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited institution and completed residency training in comparative veterinary anesthesia, or individuals with credentials accepted by the ACVAA and/or ECVAA.

Candidates that have completed residency training and are in the process of taking or applying to take the board certification exam will be considered.

Applicants must be eligible for and obtain a veterinary license from the Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine.

In addition, the following positions will require:

SENIOR CLINICIAN: 6 years of experience as a board certified anesthesiologist, didactic and clinical teaching in a university setting, leadership experience on departmental/university committees, and evidence of peer reviewed scholarship.

ASSOCIATE OR FULL PRO! FESSOR: Experience in modern veterinary anesthesiology and standards of! care, a documented record of scholarship through manuscript preparation and publication, and a successful record of external granting activity.

Preferred Qualifications
- An advanced degree.
- Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia or the European College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia.
- An established national prominence or the potential to achieve such in some aspect of an anesthesiology related activity as demonstrated through a robust publication record.
- A unique clinical focus that will enhance the activities of the LVMC.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and compliment the current anesthesia faculty in gaining national prominence.
