Shift Lab Analyst [Portugal]

POSITION SCOPE:

To carry out routine analysis and provide analytical data to customers and process personnel in a safe manner and in compliance with the quality management system. To confirm compliance with specifications and/or targets.


DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To run the laboratory shift routine ensuring the required safety, environmental, quality and hygiene standards are met
  • To understand and work within safe systems such as TBRA and Incident reporting system.
  • To provide QC/QA analysis that is timely and to an appropriate accuracy level.
  • To not knowingly allow product which fails to achieve specification to be produced (or continue to be produced), without such awareness being communicated to a higher authority.
  • To work as a team with other operators and laboratory staff to provide mobile, flexible and committed workforce. Assist field operators in basic queries on QC analysis conducted by the field operators.
  • To carry out analysis for monitoring of sugar loss. Assist in investigation to determine source of sugar loss.
  • To perform routine basic instrument maintenance and cleaning.
  • To maintain the working area in a clean and tidy state.
  • Ensuring the calibration of shift work laboratory instruments on a daily basis.
  • To cover when necessary the routine analysis for the shift Quality Laboratory (this may on occasion require short periods shift working) ensuring the required safety, environmental, quality, hygiene standards are met.
  • Comply with all the standards, policies and requirements of Quality, Food Safety and Food Defense.
  • Guarantee the production of products with Quality, Food Safety and Authenticity.
  • Promoting the Culture of Quality, Food Safety, Occupational Safety, Environment and Sustainability, ensuring compliance with product and process requirements.


ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Good numeric and literacy skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and to prioritize workload
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate data leading to decision making.


ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERIENCES:

  • Experience of working according to the requirements of ISO & IFS standards
  • Basic knowledge of food manufacturing processes
  • Practical Laboratory experience


ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technical course in Chemistry is preferential.
