The incumbent is accountable to the Chief, Medical Service, for assuring the most effective delivery of care, while meeting and exceeding compliance standards.
The Iowa City VA Health Care System is categorized as a Tertiary Care Level 1 facility, affiliated teaching hospital, and research center. The facility serves a veteran popula! tion residing in 33 eastern Iowa counties, 16 western Illinois! counties and one northern Missouri county.

DUTIES:
Excellence in patient care is mandatory. This announcement is open to all qualified U.S. or naturalized citizens. This position is accountable to the Chief, Medical Service, for assuring the most effective delivery of care, while meeting and exceeding compliance standards.
This position involves attending in our state-of-the-art Tele-ICU facility located at the Iowa City Health Care System VA Hospital, Iowa City. Duties include working with multiple ICU programs, both rural and those with academic affiliations, to bring state of the art technology and provide a consistently high level of evidence-based practice to intensive care units across our region. The ideal candidate has outstanding clinical skills and a demonstrated interest in quality improvement. Previous experience in Tele-ICU is not required.
NOTE:
Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Elig! ible in Critical Care by an ABMS Board of Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology or Emergency Medicine.
Recruitment/relocation incentive may be authorized for this position.
Salary is determined by a Physician's Compensation panel and approved by the Medical Center Director.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Citizenship.
Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.)
2. Education.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Approved schools are:
(a) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical C! olleges for the year in which the degree was granted.
(b) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. (c) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
3. Licensure and Registration.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.

Physical Requirement.
