Maxim Government Services (MGS) is seeking experienced R! egistered Nurses to provide services in the Operating Room at the VA Medical Center located in Iowa City, IA. The initial contract term is six (6) months with the option to extend. Travelers welcome.
Federal facilities do not require specific state licensure. This is a great opportunity to get a foot in the door to federal and/or travel employment. Please contact Kim Herrmann at [Click Job Title to Apply] or email [Click Job Title to Apply] for more information.Hours of Duty will be Monday â€" Friday, 7:00 am â€" 3:30 pm, or 9:30am to 6:00pm. The scope of the work includes, but is not limited to: 1.Complies with all medical center policies and procedures including medical staff bylaws, narcotics rules and regulations, and medical records rules that will be provided on the selected candidates first day of work.2.Supervises and directs patient care in an individual operating room.3.Ensures that proper techniques and practices are used according to accepted standards ! of practice.4.Supervises other personnel in the room and direc! ts or assists as necessary.5.Immediately reports any unusual occurrences to charge personnel, documents appropriately in the patient record, and completes Hospital Incident Reports form if indicated.6.Performs scrub duties as necessary and to keep current.7.Maintains count on sponges, needles and instruments to ensure no loss of items according to present policy.8.Performs all circulating duties with efficiency and speed.9.Supervises and assists scrub nurse as necessary.a.Positions patient, prepares operative area, and adjusts table to proper position according to standard policies.b.Has all supplies and equipment in room and provides to team as necessary.c.Opens all sterile packs and supplies according to aseptic technique.d.Assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other personnel as needed to ensure good patient care.
