Position Description:
The University of Iowa Health Care’s Heart and Vascular Center (UIHVC) is the regional leader in diagnostics and treatment of a multitude of heart and vascular diseases and conditions in both adult and pediatric patients. From routine heart care to vastly-sophisticated transplantation and minimally invasive surgery, UIHVC is recognized nationally for heart and vascular care. Children with congenital and acquired heart diseases and their families benefit from a system of collaborative care by surgeons, cardiologists, critical care specialists, anesthesiologists and nurses.
The Department of Cardiothor! acic Surgery is currently accepting applications for a senior ! cardiac surgeon with expertise in pediatric cardiac surgery, including complex congenital heart anomalies, ECMO, and reconstruction of cardiac malformations. This position will be at the rank of associate or full professor either tenure or clinical (non-tenure) track dependent upon the qualifications and goals of the individual. Pay is commensurate to rank and experience.
Education Requirement:
Applicants must have a medical doctorate from an approved medical college.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have completed postgraduate training in an accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery training program and additional fellowship training in pediatric cardiac surgery. As a member of a multi-disciplinary, institutional center, candidates will need to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills, be committed to ongoing performance improvement, and possess outstanding abilities and skills in teaching and clinical medicine. D! edication to enhancing a diverse workforce and academic environment is vital. Experience in research at a level which enables procurement of outside funding is required for tenure track appointments.
Certifications:
Applicants must be American Board of Thoracic Surgery BE/BC in cardiac surgery
Desirable Qualifications:
Administrative experience and skills and a strong interest in education are desirable.
